Perplexed / Refugee girl
Clay, white slip, rutile oxide
Syrian Boy - several years ago the picture of a Syrian boy, a toddler, was shown across all the newspapers. He had been in the middle of bombing and sat in the back of an ambulance covered in dust and blood. The surrounding seats etc were orange. His shocked face seemed to sum up the terrible things that were happening in that country and stayed with me. I finally made this head. (The same boy has recently been used in propaganda reports by the architect of the war Assad)
